Tilapia are a native species to Africa and best-known of their fast growth, large size and palatability .   Tilapia are mainly freshwater fish, inhabiting shallow streams, ponds, rivers, and lakes.  Presently, Asia countries such as China, Taiwan, & Vietnam have become major Tilapia suppliers.  Tilapia are usually dark grey or almost black and approximately grow up to over 36 cm and 200 grams on weight.  Tilapia is high in Omega-3 fatty acids, protein, vitamin b-12, and potassium at relatively low expense. These factors allow Tilapia to rank as one of the most popularly fish consumed in U.S.A.
